PropertyPinPoint
Frequently asked questions
How PropertyPinPoint works, what it costs, and who gets to see your details.
Buying
- How is this different from a property portal?
- A portal shows you homes that are already listed, and you go looking. Here you mark the area you want and describe what you’re after, and estate agents who work those streets come to you — often with homes that aren’t advertised yet.
- What does it cost?
- Nothing — not if you’re buying, renting or selling. There is no account to create and no card to enter. Estate agents pay a subscription to reach you; nobody else pays us anything, ever.
- Why do I have to draw an area instead of picking a suburb?
- Because suburbs are a blunt instrument. Most people want one side of a main road, a particular school zone, or a few specific streets — not everything inside a suburb boundary. Drawing it means agents only contact you about homes in the place you actually want to live.
- Who can see my name and number?
- Only an agent who has a specific home to show you on a street inside the area you drew, and only the first agent to bring it. Agents can see that demand exists in their areas and can view the shape you drew, but that view carries no name, email, phone number or budget. Your details are released when an agent presents a home, and not before.
- Will I be called by ten agents at once?
- No. Each home reaches you through one agent at a time. If that agent hasn’t been in touch within 24 hours, the email we send you has a button to pass the home to the next agent who has it.
- An agent contacted me about a home they don't actually have. What now?
- Use the “report this agent” button in the email about that home. Reports count against the agent, and we act on them.
- How long do you keep my search?
- We email you once a week to ask whether you’re still looking. Say yes and it stays live. Say you’ve found a place and it’s deleted immediately, along with the areas you drew. Ignore three asks in a row — roughly a month — and we delete it anyway, because we’d rather not hold your details for a search that’s finished.
- Do I need to confirm my email?
- Yes, and nothing happens until you do. No agent can see your search before you click the link we send. It’s also what stops anyone entering your address on the form without your knowing.
Renting
- Does this work for renting?
- Yes — use the I’m renting tab. It works exactly the same way, and rental searches are kept entirely separate from purchase searches, so agents looking for buyers never see renters and the other way round.
Selling
- I want to sell. What does PropertyPinPoint do for me?
- You tell us where your property is and what you’re expecting, and we show you the estate agents who actually work that suburb — their photo, agency, the areas they cover and the sales they’ve pinned. You choose who gets your details. We don’t advertise or list your property, and there’s no cost or obligation.
- Will every agent in my suburb start phoning me?
- No. Agents can see that someone in their area is thinking of selling, but not who — your name, number and address stay hidden until you pick an agent. You can choose up to three, so you can compare valuations without being phoned by everyone.
- Am I committing to anything?
- No. There’s no mandate, no exclusivity and no fee. Whether you appoint anyone who contacts you is entirely your decision, on whatever terms you agree with them directly.
For estate agents
- What do I get for R99 a month?
- Three things. The buyers and renters who have marked the areas you serve — what they want, their budget, and the ability to present them a home. Homeowners in those areas who have said they’re thinking of selling. And a pin on the buyer map, if you want one. Without a subscription we still email you whenever somebody starts looking in an area you serve — that part is free and always will be — but not how many there are, what they want, or who any of them are.
- How do I get a buyer's contact details?
- By presenting a home. Pick a buyer, give the street, and if it falls inside the area they drew, their details are released to you and they’re told you have something for them. First agent to present a given street to a given buyer gets it; anyone later joins a queue and sees nothing until it’s their turn.
- Can I just browse the buyers?
- No, and that’s deliberate. You can see the shape someone drew and every street inside it, but no personal details come with that view. The only way to reach a buyer is to bring them an actual home.
- What if the buyer isn't interested?
- Remove them from your dashboard and the lead is freed for the next agent who has that home. Their contact details leave your portal at the same time.
- Do I need a Fidelity Fund Certificate?
- Yes. Every agent gives us their PPRA Fidelity Fund Certificate number before seeing a single buyer. It is never shown on your public profile — we hold it for our own records, and buyers never see it.
- How do I cancel?
- From your dashboard, any time. Billing stops and you keep access until the end of the month you’ve paid for. Five days after that your account and everything in it is deleted, so save anything you need first. See the refund policy for the detail.
About PropertyPinPoint
- Are you an estate agency?
- No. We don’t list, market or sell property, and we’re not party to any transaction. PropertyPinPoint introduces people who are looking to registered property practitioners who work the relevant area. Everything after the introduction is between you and that agent.
- What do you do with my information?
- We use it to match you with agents in your areas, and nothing else. We don’t sell data. The privacy policy sets out what we hold, for how long, and how to have it deleted — which you can also do yourself from any check-in email.
