PropertyPinPoint

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 August 2026

PropertyPinPoint (“we”, “us”) is committed to protecting your personal information and complying with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why, how we use and share it, and your rights.

1. Who we are (Responsible Party)

The responsible party is PROPERTYPINPOINT (PTY), registration number 2026/567345/07, of 35 Launceston Street, New Redruth, South Africa. Our Information Officer can be reached at support@propertypinpoint.co.za.

2. The information we collect

Depending on how you use the site:

  • Buyers and renters: your name, email, phone, your budget or monthly rent range, property preferences (such as type and number of bedrooms), and the area(s) you draw on the map (which we store as a map shape and match to suburb names). We ask you to confirm your email address before your search becomes active.
  • Sellers: your name, email, phone, property address, expected price, timeline and any notes. We ask you to confirm your email address. Your street address is never shown publicly — it is used only to match you to agents working in your suburb.
  • Estate agents: your name, agency, work email, your Fidelity Fund Certificate number and the declarations you make at sign-up, the areas you serve, the homes you post, and your subscription and billing status. If you choose to appear on the buyer map, we also store a profile photo and a public contact number and email. Payment card details are handled by our payment provider and are never stored by us.

3. Why we process it, and our lawful basis

We process your information to run the platform: to show agents anonymous demand in the areas they serve, to notify you about homes that match your search, to connect buyers and sellers with estate agents, and to operate agent accounts and subscriptions. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you give when you submit a form and tick the consent box, together with our legitimate interest in providing the service you asked for.

4. Who we share it with, and when

Buyers and renters

Your contact details are not handed out to agents in bulk. On the map, agents only ever see anonymous demand — map points with no name or contact details. Your name, email and phone are shared with a single estate agent, and only that agent, when one of these happens:

  • you tap “I’m interested” on a home an agent has posted; or
  • an agent presents a specific home for sale on a street inside the area you marked. Only one agent at a time is connected to you for a given home, we email you that agent’s details, and if they don’t contact you within 24 hours you can pass your enquiry to the next agent.

Sellers

Because the “I’m selling” form is a request to be contacted, we share your submitted details with subscribed estate agents whose service areas cover your suburb, so they can contact you about selling. Your exact street address is used only for this matching and is not shown publicly.

Agents on the map

If you are an agent who opts in and holds an active subscription, your profile photo and name appear on the buyer map for the areas you serve. Your public contact number and email are shown to a buyer only when they choose to view them.

Public map markers

Anonymous demand points and “recently sold” markers show only map coordinates (and, for sold markers, the agency name) — never a buyer’s or seller’s name or contact details.

Our service providers

We use trusted providers to run the platform: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), Resend (sending our emails), Google Maps (mapping) and PayFast (agent payments). Some of them store data on servers outside South Africa (for example, in the European Union) under appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your information or use it for third-party advertising.

5. How we protect it

Buyer, renter and seller details can never be read from the public website. They are held under strict database access rules and are released to an estate agent only through the controlled steps described in section 4, and only to agents who have confirmed their identity and hold an active subscription. Profile photos are re-processed on our servers before storage to remove anything hidden in the file. All data is encrypted in transit.

6. How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as needed to provide the service, or until you ask us to delete it. You can request deletion at any time (see below).

7. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct or delete it;
  • object to or withdraw consent for its processing;
  • complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

To exercise any of these — including deleting your data — email us at support@propertypinpoint.co.za and we will action your request.

8. Cookies and advertising

We use the essential cookies and similar storage needed to keep agents signed in and to remember your choices on this page. These are required for the site to work and cannot be switched off.

We also advertise on Facebook and Instagram. If you agree, we place the Meta advertising pixel, which tells Meta that a browser visited this site so we can measure whether our ads reached people who were actually looking for a home. Meta receives your IP address, browser details and which of our pages you saw, and may match that to a Facebook or Instagram account. This is processing by Meta as well as by us, and it takes place partly outside South Africa.

The pixel is never placed unless you accept it. We ask before it loads, declining is a single click, and nothing about the site changes if you decline — you can still mark areas, hear from agents and list a property exactly as before. You can change your mind at any time using the “Cookie choices” link at the bottom of any page.

9. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
